We had a very strong feeling that the Bliss (or what the TIMN staff calls HTC's Lady Phone) was indeed a real handset when we first reported on it back in May, but we also had doubts that HTC would specifically design a phone for the XX chromosome set. Well, the picture above of the so-called Bliss, dug up by PocketNow, pretty much puts all our doubts to rest. Matching our initial description to a T, the phone in the leaked picture is adorned in a sea foam green (remember it's supposed to be "calming!") and is said to be released with a number of matching accessories. In this case, the phone seems to be in some sort of encompassing dock, and though there aren't any details on it, we'd venture to guess that it's the wireless charging dock that we detailed in our first report. Unfortunately there aren't any signs of that charm indicator, which still seems to be this phone's only addition for women.
Of course, there's always a chance that this image was an older render — however, PocketNow has also spotted some images with the name "HTC Bliss" noted in the EXIF data. We're pushing our own sources on additional details right now, but either way, it looks like HTC's really moving ahead with its effort to dress Android up for women.
BGR has exclusively learned that Horace Luke, former Chief Innovation Officer at HTC, has left the company as of April 30th 2011. ”Horace Luke, HTC's chief innovation officer, has left HTC for personal reasons. Horace nurtured a culture of innovation at HTC and instilled a strong consumer design-focus among our employees who continue to raise the bar in designing products that capture our customers' imagination,” HTC told BGR in a statement. “We are grateful for Horace's many contributions to HTC and wish him well in his future endeavors. Scott Croyle, HTC's vice president of design, has taken over Horace’s responsibilities and will continue a tradition of design innovation at HTC.” Luke had been at HTC since November 2006 when he left his role as Creative Director at Microsoft to join the emerging Taiwan-based smartphone vendor. He was with Microsoft for a total of nine years, where he headed up the Creative departments for products including Xbox, Windows XP, Microsoft research and Windows Mobile.
It looks like someone forgot about the HTC Flyer's glossy screen: a series of shots (now pulled) from Flickr reveal what appears to be the backside of a new HTC smartphone. The photo sharing service outed the shots as being taken by an HTC Ruby, a white-backed smartphone with a dual-flash camera and 3.5mm audio jack. Really, that's all we know. The last phone HTC codenamed "Ruby" turned out to be the HTC Arrive, so maybe this gem will shine with a Mango-tinged hue. Then again, Android is just as likely to use cameras and headphone jacks as any other OS, so really it's anybody's game. Hit the break for a bonus reflecto-shot and tell us what you think this phantom phone ought to run.
Apple Inc. has released an all-new TV advertisement for their iPad 2 device.
The new ad is titled We'll Always and it showcases plenty of iPad's excellent features that make it the best and most popular tablet on the market.
The ad starts with a user opening up Photos.app to see photos of what appears to be the user's children and spouse. The next scene shows another user reading a book on their iPad with the iBooks.app. Moving on, we see a person cooking while consulting their iPad for recipes with The Photo Cookbook, a person enjoying a Sox vs. Tigers game with the MLB app, having a meeting online with Fuze HD, editing a movie with iMovie and lastly – our favorite part – Apple cleverly, well, promoting OS X Lion with Alphabet Fun.
One can certainly not deny how the iPad has changed things. While tablets existed before 2010, there were never as easy to use, yet, at the same, as powerful as the iPad is. Sure, you still cannot play Crysis on it, but it pulls off all everyday activities like browsing, video chatting, viewing documents, sending and receiving emails etc. with finesse.
The original iPad, when it was announced in 2010, spurred a revolution in the consumer electronics industry. While critics sidelined it as "just a big iPod touch", that "big iPod touch" label is exactly what made it so popular.
Have you ever played Angry Birds on the iPad? I have and it's a far better experience than on the iPod touch. A larger screen makes all the difference in the world!
With its economical price, abundance of apps and outstandingly simple user-experience, the iPad simply owns the tablet market: 8 out of 10 tablets sold in 2011 are iPads.
Here's the ad's transcript:
We’ll never stop sharing our memories. Or getting lost in a good book. We’ll always cook dinner and cheer for our favorite team. We’ll still go to meetings, make home movies, and learn new things. But how we do all this will never be the same.
And lastly, here is the ad itself:
Gotta love that soothing music the ad has playing in the background!

A few days back an unknown HTC device was spotted in some pictures on Flickr. The pictures were actually of the HTC Flyer but thanks to its glossy display (which otherwise would be a bit of an annoyance) we were able to get a sneak peek at the back of this mysterious HTC handset.
The phone has a simple white plastic cover on the back for the battery, which suggests this could be a mid-range device as HTC usually employs unibody aluminum construction for their more expensive handsets. You can see the camera lens on the back with dual LED flash and the loudspeaker grille. The headphone jack is on the top left and the power button is on the top right.
A couple of new images found later reveal the T-Mobile badge on the front along with a look at the camera software that would be more at home on Android since Windows Phone 7 devices have their own camera software that cannot be altered. It also suggests the presence of a front facing camera since thats the one that is currently active in the image.
One wonders where this device could slot in to HTCs product line. Perhaps it is supposed to go against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy SL and the LG Optimus Black. Only time will tell.
When is a "Facebook phone" not a Facebook phone? When it's in China. While this handset may look like an HTC Salsa at first glace, if you look a little closer you'll notice that the familiar little blue button has been replaced with one for Sina's Weibo social networking service. Lest you think this is just another KIRF, however, you can rest assured this is indeed the real deal, and a fairly big deal for HTC, considering that Weibo has around 150 million total users, and 50 million active monthly users. As for the phone itself, it's remained mostly unchanged otherwise, with it packing an 800MHz processor and a 3.4-inch 480 x 320 display, along with Android 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1 on top. Head on past the break for a video, and hit the source link below for a closer look.
More tablets from HTC ahead! We just heard that the Taiwanese company is working on a 3D version of its Flyer slate and we even got a photo of a part of the device to prove it. What you are seeing here should be the topmost part of the upcoming stereoscopic slate and as you can see, it features two cameras rather than one.
Now leaks based on just a piece of hardware should definitely be filled under uncertain, but seeing the interest that the EVO 3D generate, it would be strange if HTC didn’t keep pushing on the stereoscopic front.
Plus, the photo doesn’t look photoshopped so if someone is trying to trick us then they actually went through the trouble of creating the part for real. And I can’t see anyone doing that for an HTC device.
The only bit we find a little strange is the position of the two cameras. We believe shooting on tablets feels more natural in landscape (or rather it feels less awkward) and it seems the 3D Flyer will make you use the camera in portrait mode.
Anyway, let’s not throw any stones before we see an official announcement. Hopefully it won’t take too long to come.
A heap of interesting AT&T rumors just came in. Reportedly, the carrier will start selling its first LTE handsets in December and the HTC Eternity, which first leaked a while ago, will be one of them.
Our tipster says that the WP7-running Eternity will be the only new HTC phone to come to AT&T this year, but it won’t be the only one to have an LTE radio. A selection of LTE-packing Android smartphones will launch alongside it in December, including at least one device from each of LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
And speaking of the AT&T LTE network it seems that its testing is going pretty well with high-speed network data already available in several of the major US cities. Our tipster, who says he got his information from an AT&T employee, says LTE modems are already doing 21Mbps in Washington DC (actual speed, not theoretical maximum).
A few months back HTC had started launching new phones with locked bootloaders. This resulted in a backlash from the developer and modder community following which HTC announced that they will be revising their bootloader policy. Today HTC has announced that they will be unlocking the bootloaders on their Android smartphones, starting this August.
The first phones to be freed will be the global HTC Sensation, followed by the HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile USA and then the EVO 3D on Sprint. The rest of the phones will eventually get unlocked over time through software updates and HTC has promised to keep us updated on this matter through their Facebook account. We are glad that they listen to their user’s feedback but then again, they shouldn’t be taking such decisions in the first place.

Amidst all the excitement surrounding the original HTC Desire getting the Android Gingerbread update, the Desire Z owners are probably feeling left out. But you have no reason to feel that way anymore as HTC has started rolling out the Gingerbread update to Desire Z handsets across the world.
This information was provided by HTC a few days back stating that the update will start rolling out in a few weeks but is now being confirmed by carriers that it has already started rolling out in certain countries, such as Vodafone Australia. The software number for this update is 2.42.861.6 and will update the Android version to 2.3.3 with Sense UI 2.1.
The update is rolling out gradually so you may not see anything now but you will soon be getting a notification on your phone asking you to download the 104MB update, so make sure you are latched onto a fast data connection. And do let us know what all improvements you find in the new update once you receive it.
It takes two to tango, HTC seem to think. The HTC Salsa joins the ChaCha in a bid to treat young Android users to as much Facebook as they can handle. The little blue button makes an appearance again, this time in a more familiar context. While the ChaCha takes its QWERTY keyboard off the beaten path, the Salsa is a typical Android package. It’s got a solid build and seems like a well spec'd midrange smartphone - an HTC Wildfire S for Facebookers.
The HTC Salsa official photos
The Salsa has something the ChaCha doesn't: a family tree. The Salsa is part of the new generation of midrange phones by HTC, along with the likes of the Wildfire S. But calling it a Facebook-centric Wildfire S would be oversimplifying or just plain wrong. As a matter of fact, HTC went on to give the Salsa more than just that tiny Facebook button. It tops the Wildfire S in terms of screen size and processor clock speed, and throws in a few features that the Wildfire S didn't bother with - like video calls, HD video and web Flash support.
Let's take a look at the complete feature list and the possible deal breakers.
Key features
Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support
7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 384 Kbps HSUPA
3.4" 16M-color capacitive TFT touchscreen of HVGA (320 x 480) resolution, Gorilla glass
5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and geotagging
D1 video recording @ 30fps
Wi-Fi b/g/n and DLNA
GPS with A-GPS
microSD slot up to 32GB (2GB card included)
Accelerometer and proximity sensor
Standard 3.5 mm audio jack
Stereo FM radio with RDS
microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v2.1
Smart dialing, voice dialing
Front facing camera, video calls
DivX/XviD video support
Compact aluminum unibody
HTC Locations app
HTCSense.com integration
HTC Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot
Ultra-fast boot times (if you don’t remove battery)
Main disadvantages
Below-par screen sunlight legibility
Camera not the best we’ve seen
microSD slot under the battery cover, not (quite) hot-swappable
No HD video recording
There seems to be so little to worry about but we're yet to get into the details. As a mid-range smartphone, the Salsa will not set your expectations too high. But users who know what to expect will not be disappointed. The unibody design, the hallmark build quality and the latest Android are all in the deal.

So, it's a neat little smartphone with a thing for Facebook, one that many are getting ready to befriend. As for us, we have a job to do before we hit "Like". Our usual tour of the hardware coming up.
Clamoring for its share of the pie, especially when some versions of original HTC Desire received their fancy Gingerbread update recently, HTC appears to be on track for getting the HTC Desire Z crossed off its list next.
From the sound of it all, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire Z is almost complete and appears to become ready for roll out in the coming weeks, which will be done in the form of an over-the-air process. Naturally, it might take some time for it to reach every single handset owner, but HTC is confident that it’ll permeate to every individual by the end of the month.
Inching ever so close to that finish line, HTC will still be hard at work in pumping out the update for carrier branded versions of the device since this upcoming one doesn’t target them. However, it’s anyone’s guess as to how long we’ll see that become a reality seeing that carriers meticulous inspect and test updates to ensure that they’re meeting their criteria.
HTC through Facebook reported just announced the Gingerbread Update of their HTC Desire. The update will available at this end of July. According to HTC, the testing on the device has gone well and that they will be able to roll out the update by the end of July. No exact dates were mentioned but considering there are just three more weeks left in this month, you won’t have to wait for long as long as HTC stays true to their word. The thrilling story of the Gingerbread update on the HTC Desire will come to an end this month. After announcing the update, then denying it and then announcing it will be made available and then finally revealing that there will be some cutbacks made to the Sense UI in order to fit it on the Desire, HTC today announced on their Facebook page that the update will be made available this month.

Just last Friday, the HTC EVO 3D was launched by Sprint and already it would seem that a GSM variant is being prepped to be launched on T-Mobile. The handset was spotted recently visiting the suits at the FCC wearing T-Mobile's AWS bands. This, of course, does not guarantee that we will seen the 3D enabled device in the window of the nation's fourth largest carrier, but it does bring up some interesting possibilities for those T-Mobile customers with a phone upgrade calling their name.
If a GSM EVO 3D does make it to T-Mobile, how will it do against its stablemate, the HTC Sensation 4G? Cannibalism, anyone? Or will the EVO 3D be seen at T-Mobile as a Sensation 4G wannabe with gimmicky 3D functionality? Will the LG G2x, currently not available online, be cleansed of all bugs and challenge a T-Mobile version of the EVO 3D by recapturing the excitement that its dual-core speed presented before its launch? While it's great to think about all of this, the truth is that we still need to see T-Mobile actually come out and introduce the HTC EVO 3D before we get carried away.

The HTC Eternity might not look much different than other HTC handsets but it's definitely worth your attention – it's got a humongous 4.7-inch display, nearly eternal in today's smartphone market and definitely the the biggest we've seen so far on a smartphone. It's a Super LCD screen with WVGA resolution. When it comes to the software, judging by the front facing camera, it will run the latest update of Windows Phone, Mango.
A single-core 1.5GHz processor runs the whole show, while the rest of the spec sheet is pretty standard for a high-end device: an 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with dual-LED flash supporting 720p HD recording, the 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam, 16GB of internal storage, along with Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS and Bluetooth for connectivity.
The biggest question with such a big screen is of course the battery life, so we hope that the 1,650mAh juicer that's included will suffice to get us at least through a day. When can you get it? Not earlier than this fall as that's when Mango comes out, but for those with a fetish for big screens, the wait should be worth it.
This is hardly a surprise to us. After we saw it in leaked pictures barely a week ago, the U.S. version of the HTC ChaCha got officially announced on Facebook under the name HTC Status - quite a fitting moniker for the phone which is designed to rule the social network.
There are practically no differences between the HTC Status and its European sibling, the Chacha - their appearance and specs are identical, save for the AT&T logo of the Status.
The U.S. version of the ChaCha will also get the upgraded processor which we previously told you about - it is clocked at 800 MHz unlike the originally claimed 600 MHz. There is 512MB of RAM and ROM on board respectively. The memory can be expanded through a microSD card. A 5MP camera will handle the capture of pictures before they get uploaded on Facebook. The device will have Android 2.3 Gingerbread, dressed in HTC Sense, right out of the box as well.
There is currently no pricing and availability set for the HTC Status but we seriously doubt that it will be long before it starts shipping. In the meantime, feel free to check out our hands on video of the HTC ChaCha here.
The European GSM-enabled HTC EVO 3D recently went official but 3D-loving GSM fans in the US were seemingly left out of the party. Luckily this is about to change pretty soon as the EVO 3D is on its way to T-Mobile.
The news was brought to us by the FCC, which has just concluded testing an EVO 3D with T-Mobile USA 3G bands. So the handset seems fit and ready to enter the arena and face the LG Thrill 4G for AT&T (a.k.a. Optimus 3D) and its Sprint-bound twin - the mobile 3D battle is really heating up in the States.
The FCC report has this helpful schematic of the wireless antennas on the HTC EVO 3D, with the 3D dual-lens camera on there as well (not that it has anything to do with FCC tests). The tests include tests of the 1700MHz band (AWS), which points to T-Mobile USA as the future home of this new EVO 3D.
The reports don't give away much more than that - besides a 1730mAh battery, the same as on the current EVO 3D models. There's no mention of launch dates in there so we can only guess about that.
So, Sprint's EVO 3D is out, T-Mobile's seems to be coming and AT&T's LG Thrill 4G (Optimus 3D) is "coming soon". Your move Verizon.
A few hours ago HTC announced it is already testing the Gingerbread for the original Desire and will start the QA procedures this week. Obviously the update is nearing release and the wait will be over soon.
Initially HTC promised a Gingerbread update for the Desire, but then it was dropped due to incapable hardware. After the massive pressure it got from users the company made another U-turn and decided to launch the update anyway, even if it will compromise a feature or two.
And here we are today when HTC is almost ready with the update. Here is the HTC's statement:
We suppose we'll see the Android 2.3 update soon after the QA is over. So arm up with just a little more patience and prepare for an update.
