Download iOS 4.3.5 For iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2, 1, And Pod touch [DIRECT LINKS]

Just months before iOS 5 is released and ten days after iOS 4.3.4 came out, one wouldn’t expect to ever hear about iOS 4.3.5. It now turns out that yet another update for iOS 4.3 has been uploaded to Apple’s servers, allegedly fixing a critical security issue.

IPSW

No concrete information about this update has been provided about this update, other than it seems to fix an issue with certificate validation, as pointed out on Apple’s change log:

A security issue has been resolved with certificate verification.

iOS development has been on fire lately, with new updates being rolled out for both iOS 5 and iOS 4.3. Over the weekend, iOS 5 Beta was released, containing several enhancements to Apple’s upcoming iOS 5 as the release draws closer and closer. A week earlier, iOS 4.3.4 was released, which contained a security fix for Mobile Safari for a vulnerability that allowed a popular jailbreak method, JailbreakMe 3.0, to function. With 4.3.4 behind us, many has expected iOS 5 to be the next step for iOS but Apple has proven us wrong once again.

While it’s still unclear why Apple hasn’t stopped maintaining iOS 4.3 just several weeks before it’s fully replaced, the only possible explanation could be the gravity of the security vulnerability that was found. Although it might have been Apple’s intention not to update iOS 4 any further, the Cupertino company might have been forced to do it given the circumstances before hackers spotted the vulnerability first and started exploiting it.

If you have a jailbroken device, you are advised to stay as far away from this update as possible.

Non-jailbreak iPhone, iPad, iPod touch users are strongly encouraged to download this update as soon as possible. You can do so by plugging your device into your computer, locating it in the iTunes sidebar and clicking on the "Check for Updates" option. The update should then immediately begin downloading and installing.

AT&T preps for early to mid-September iPhone 5 launch

BGR has exclusively learned that AT&T has begun communicating launch plans internally for Apple’s next-generation iPhone 5 handset. We have been told that AT&T has begun informing employees across the company, and those who work in retail locations, to finish any sort of employee training as soon as possible. AT&T is asking managers to finish training in order to have employees available for the influx of foot traffic expected in September, a proven source has shared with us. Other reports indicate that Apple is looking to hire additional Apple Store staff to be on hand for “new product launches” during the same period of time, further supporting our information. Apple is expected to announce the company’s next-generation iPhone at the end of August, with a launch to follow in the first half of September.

AT&T Gearing Up For iPhone 5 Launch In September [REPORT]

It's all pointing towards a September launch date now! A "proven source" from inside AT&T has stated that the wireless carrier is making full-blown preparations for the launch of the hotly anticipated next-generation iPhone.

att_horiz_color_lrg

The news comes from our friends over at BGR. They cite a "proven source" who reports that AT&T has started talking about iPhone 5's launch internally. The company is informing all of its employees and ordering those who work at AT&T stores to complete all employee training as soon as possible so as to get ready to face the great amounts of people who will be, as with every Apple product launch, clamoring for the iPhone 5.

From BGR:

From analyst's predictions to actual sources inside related companies, reports revolving around the launch of the iPhone 5 are getting more serious by the day. Just two days back, a senior executive at Swiss telecommunications company Swisscom confidently stated that the iPhone 5 would be launched on 5th October in Switzerland and on 5th September in the US.

The very next day we reported on how Apple is increasing its staffing in the United States as well as the United Kingdom for the months of August-October.

According to one analyst, Apple will release two new iPhones this year: a low-end, economical iPhone 4S along with a higher-end iPhone 5. We can't say this isn't plausible either since Apple COO Tim Cook has categorically stated that Apple is looking to target lower-end of the market which is currently dominated by the likes of Samsung, LG and, yes, Nokia.

The iPhone 5 is expected to announced in August with its release being in September. It will have a dual-core A5 processor; other anticipated features include a doubling of RAM, a higher megapixel camera, longer battery life and an edge-to-edge Retina Display.

This writer is looking forward to the iPhone 5. Are you?

Voomote One turns your iPhone into a well organized universal remote

Voomote One
Ok, so the name isn't great, but the Voomote One is actually kinda neat. It's not the first universal remote adapter we've seen for the iPhone and, unlike the Surc IR case, you probably wouldn't want to leave this bulky add-on attached to your handset when not in use. But, the app does have some convenient features, like the ability to create custom layouts that can easily be switched based on the devices in a particular room. So you can setup a living room profile to control your big screen and cable box, and a separate bed room one for your more modest set and a stereo. You can also create command macros that fire up multiple devices with the tap of a single virtual button. The Voomote app is available for free in the app store, but the actual IR-blasting sleeve will set you back $99. Check out the gallery below and head on after the break for some PR.

Apple Releases New iPad 2 Ad Titled “We’ll Always”; Pays Homage To Recently Released OS X Lion [VIDEO]

Apple Inc. has released an all-new TV advertisement for their iPad 2 device.

Untitled

The new ad is titled We'll Always and it showcases plenty of iPad's excellent features that make it the best and most popular tablet on the market.

The ad starts with a user opening up Photos.app to see photos of what appears to be the user's children and spouse. The next scene shows another user reading a book on their iPad with the iBooks.app. Moving on, we see a person cooking while consulting their iPad for recipes with The Photo Cookbook, a person enjoying a Sox vs. Tigers game with the MLB app, having a meeting online with Fuze HD, editing a movie with iMovie and lastly – our favorite part – Apple cleverly, well, promoting OS X Lion with Alphabet Fun.

One can certainly not deny how the iPad has changed things. While tablets existed before 2010, there were never as easy to use, yet, at the same, as powerful as the iPad is. Sure, you still cannot play Crysis on it, but it pulls off all everyday activities like browsing, video chatting, viewing documents, sending and receiving emails etc. with finesse.

The original iPad, when it was announced in 2010, spurred a revolution in the consumer electronics industry. While critics sidelined it as "just a big iPod touch", that "big iPod touch" label is exactly what made it so popular.

Have you ever played Angry Birds on the iPad? I have and it's a far better experience than on the iPod touch. A larger screen makes all the difference in the world!

With its economical price, abundance of apps and outstandingly simple user-experience, the iPad simply owns the tablet market: 8 out of 10 tablets sold in 2011 are iPads.

Here's the ad's transcript:

We’ll never stop sharing our memories. Or getting lost in a good book. We’ll always cook dinner and cheer for our favorite team. We’ll still go to meetings, make home movies, and learn new things. But how we do all this will never be the same.

And lastly, here is the ad itself:

Gotta love that soothing music the ad has playing in the background!

Install & Activate iOS 5 Beta 4 On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch Without Apple Developer Account [How-To Tutorial]

All experimental builds of iOS 5, the next version of the mobile operating system that runs on iPhones,iPod touches and iPads require users to validate their developer accounts with Apple when activating, as a way to curb unauthorized use. Sadly, the just-released iOS 5 beta 4 is no exception, although there’s a way around it as long as you’re willing to perform a jailbreak. Unfortunately, since the iPad 2 running iOS 5 can’t be jailbroken yet, this guide won’t work with said device.

In order to begin this process, you’ll need the following:

  1. iTunes 10.5 Beta 4 and iOS 5 Beta 4.
  2. Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 (which you can get from here).
  3. iPhone Browser (which you can get from here).

Once you have what it takes, just follow the steps below. They should take under 10 minutes:

WARNING: We at Redmond Pie haven't tested this method, and we wont recommend downloading iOS firmware files from anywhere other than the iOS Dev Center, which for $99 a year can be a good investment. The following instructions are shared for information and educational purposes only. Proceed at your own risk only.

Step 1: Assuming you already have iTunes 10.5 Beta 4 installed, update your device to iOS 5 Beta 4. If you have a un-jailbroken device on iOS 5 Beta 3, you can also update using OTA update method as explained here.

Once done, follow the activation steps as usual, although you’re supposed to get an error when the device is connected to iTunes for the first time.

Step 2: Fire up Redsn0w and jailbreak your device like you normally would. If you don’t know exactly how to perform this jailbreak, find out how here.

Step 3: Once your device is fully jailbroken, launch iPhone Browser (which we linked you to earlier) and navigate over to System/Library/CoreServices. Right-click SystemVersion.plist, select Save As and save the file to your desktop.

Step 4: Launch Notepad with Administrator rights. In order to do this, right-click Notepad on the Start Menu and select Run as Administrator. If a UAC prompt pops up, just click Yes.

Step 5: From within Notepad, open the file you’ve just saved to your desktop. Locate the following text and remove it:

<key>ReleaseType</key>     <string>Beta</string>

Step 6: Save the document and upload the edited version over to your device using iPhone Browser, overwriting the original file. Make sure the name of the new file is the same as the name of the old one: SystemVersion.plist. If not, rename it now.

You’re almost done – Now reboot your device. Since this is a tethered jailbreak, make sure you launch Redsn0w and perform the steps detailed at the end of this tutorial in order to boot your device into a jailbroken state.

You should now be able to follow the same activation steps and use your device as if you were a registered developer.

iOS 5

More than 1 out of 3 Apple iPhone owners think they have a 4G phone

More than 1 out of 3 Apple iPhone owners think they have a 4G phone
It could be due to the "4" at the end of the phone's name, or it could be because the owner is just not knowledgeable about smartphones. Either way, a recent survey shows that 34% of Apple iPhone 4 owners think that their handset is a 4G enabled phone. Perhaps even more incredible is the 24% of BlackBerry users that think that their handset is running 4G speeds. Where these people get the idea that the 'Berry in their hand is pumping out data at a 4G rate is not easy to understand, especially with no "4" in the name of any of RIM's smartphones.

More than 1 out of 3 Apple iPhone owners think they have a 4G phone

40% of current Apple iPhone owners would buy the next model, even if it didn't offer 4G connectivity

The survey, conducted by Retrevo, also found that even without 4G connectivity, 40% of Apple iPhone users would buy the next version of the iPhone even if it didn't offer 4G service, while 21% would consider buying it. 8% of Android users would switch to a 4G-disabled iPhone and 12% would consider it. 23% of BlackBerry users would swap their phone for a non-4G Apple touchscreen handset while 18% would give it a thought.

Despite what the carriers would have you think, many are reluctant to switch to 4G service. While 30% believe that 4G plans are too expensive, 22% think that the additional speed is not worth additional money. 19% are not informed enough to know. Part of the problem stems from the changed definition of what is considered 4G service. Last year, the definition of what constitutes 4G service was changed, which allowed AT&T and T-Mobile to call their HSPA+ service 4G after T-Mobile started the trend in its commercials. Most communications experts say that of the four top Stateside carriers, Verizon's LTE is the closest to being a true 4G network.

Apple Siapkan 15 Juta Unit iPhone 5

Unlocked iPhone 4 probably won't do you any good in US anyway

Untitled-1

If you live outside the United States, then this article probably has absolutely no meaning to you. Most of you are accustomed to having unlocked iPhones available if you'd like them. But if you live in the US, then this might have a little more importance in your digital life.

Yesterday, it was leaked that Apple may start selling unlocked iPhones in its home country, and that got a lot of people excited.

As you all know, unlocked phones are phones that aren't tied to just one carrier; GSM phones can be used on other GSM carriers (in the US, that's AT&T and T-Mobile). Carriers will let you go on their contract plans with them, or you can also get off-contract plans as well. But sometimes, these plans are kind of outrageous, or they simply don't offer enough of what you need to be viable for you. T-Mobile had pretty decent plans, but as we all know, they aren't gonna be here much longer.

So, for me, these unlocked iPhones will likely be nothing more than more expensive equivalents of what I've already got, an AT&T iPhone. If T-Mobile and AT&T weren't merging, I probably would've given more thought into taking the unlocked route when the iPhone 5 came around.

Air Guitar Move turns iPhone into air guitar that works

The Air Guitar Move is an accessory for the iPhone that's basically a guitar pick-shaped sensor that connects via the dock connector. The guitar pick part has a motion sensor and sends data to the iPhone, where various apps combine the sensor input with on-screen game controls to form the rest of the virtual guitar. You use the pick to strike the imaginary strings, just as you would with an air guitar.

It certainly beats touchscreen-based Guitar Hero games for authenticity, and it's a clever idea that I'm sure will interest many wannabe-guitarists. You can currently preorder the Air Guitar Move for $39 through Kickstarter, and you'll only be charged if the project reaches its $25,000 funding goal within the next 24 days. Alternatively, you can pick up the Elago guitar pick-shaped capacitive stylus for $9.99 and jam out in any of the virtual guitar apps that iOS has plenty of.

[Kickstarter]

Kickstarter is one of my favorite websites. It's a site where people who have an idea can show it to the public and get funding directly from consumers who "pledge" their project, normally by preordering a product at the same time. One such idea comes from a pair of young inventors who both have related products under their belt already, and it's called the Air Guitar Move.

Analyst predicts that the iPhone 3GS will be priced at free when the next iPhone debuts

Analyst predicts that the iPhone 3GS will be priced at free when the next iPhone debuts
Even though we’re all curious about the next version of the iPhone, there are some out there who are probably more attuned in learning about Apple’s plan of action to attack the other end of the spectrum – the low end market.

Well, RBC Capital Markets General Manager Mike Abramsky predicts that Apple will finally be on the market with a free smartphone when the next version of the iPhone arrives. Specifically, he claims that Apple will be selling the iPhone 3GS for free with an accompanying 2-year contract, which should hopefully prove to be combat the surge of low and mid-range Android handsets. Moreover, Abramsky believes that this logical move would double Apple’s market to approximately 150 million smartphones.

As we all know, AT&T still holds ownership to the iPhone 3Gs, which is evident by the advertising spots that continue to air on television. Although Verizon is now selling the iPhone 4 and appears to be on board with the next one, it’ll be interesting to see if Apple will grace them with a similar version of the iPhone 3GS.

iMuscle for iPhone Review

iMuscle for iPhone Review
Introduction:

Fitness and bodybuilding apps are not very hard to find in the App Store. Not one or two developers have ventured into creating feature-rich solutions, some even going beyond what you'd normally expect, by including additional goodies like exercise animations, nutrition advices, schedules and so on.

A recent prominent addition to the Healthcare & Fitness category is iMuscle. What the app manages to grab the attention with is its depth and appropriate visual execution. It's not without its imperfections, of course, so if you're planning on spending a few bucks on an app of this kind, it might be wise to read on and see if this one will fit the bill.

Functionality:

Instead of real photos and videos of people, iMuscle relies on 3D models and animation in order to visualize the exercises and show the correct way of doing them. Most of the time, you'll be looking at a skinless virtual bodybuilder, which, to be honest, isn't in our list of most exciting things to do, but the concept “surprisingly” works for this app, giving you a clear view of how things should be done.

The app's different functions are accessed through buttons at the bottom of the screen. There is a total of eight buttons, divided into two pages. Why on earth the Help and Apps (promotes the dev's other titles) buttons are on the first page, with functions that you'll surely use more often being left on the second is beyond us.

It's apparent that navigation is not a strong aspect of the app. Rotating the 3D model, for example, in order to reach different muscles, feels clumsy and unpolished. The same goes for zooming in and selecting the desired muscle group. In short, there's quite some room for improvement when it comes to navigation and easy of use with iMuscle.

iMuscle relies on 3D models and animation in order to visualize the exercises

It is the exercise database and accompanying information however that makes this title pretty useful. Every single muscle you might be interested in is pinpointed, and, upon selecting it, the program presents you with long lists of exercises and stretches, making it easier for you to pick an appropriate activity. It's a great treat that every exercise is accompanied by an animation to show you how it's accomplished, plus, there's a detailed rundown of the muscles that are in use with it.

iMuscle also allows you to create detailed workout programs, as well as track your strength and endurance progress, though, the process of workout creation could have been more straightforward.

Conclusion:

Is iMuscle for iPhone the ultimate all-in-one solution to facilitating fitness and bodybuilding? Well, not really. While it does have a very rich exercise database, with useful animations and accompanying info, it doesn't really deliver that seamless and fluid experience one would expect from a paid iPhone app these days, due to its sluggish performance, and clumsy navigation. It's by no means a bad app, it's just that it could be executed way better. Decent alternatives can be found with titles like the similarly priced All-in Fitness, or the free Fitness Pro.

Infographic gets all rumors about the next iPhone under one painted roof
We've heard it all - a cheaper iPhone, a bigger screen iPhone, iPhone with NFC, and without 4G LTE - all sorts of rumors and speculation are circling the device(s) that Apple is likely to unveil in the end of August or beginning of September.

Now Infographic Labs has taken the time to create a cool graphical recap with the various rumors and educated (or not so educated) guesses about how the next iPhone will look like, and what new functions it might have.

The good thing is that all rumors are displayed with their probability margins, since it's one thing to guess a dual-core A5 chipset, which is 100% certain if Apple wants to stay in the game, and another to guess if a cheaper version for prepaid is in the works.

Some rumors like a physical QWERTY keyboard seem to be included just for kicks, with the probability of zero, and the eventual 3D display is given a modest score of 10% possibility to happen.

Click on the infographic at the right to have a look, and then have a say what will the next iPhone(s) include from that list, according to your own wishes or educated guesses.

iPhone is the top selling phone on Verizon and AT&T

According to BTIG Research, the iPhone is the top-selling phone at Verizon and AT&T. This result comes from asking 250 Verizon and AT&T stores around the US.

Even though the iPhone 4 was launched on Verizon’s network just five months ago it is already their top selling phone. 51% of the Verizon stores said that the iPhone 4 was their top selling phone while 38% said that it tied with an Android phone, which would usually be the Samsung Droid Charge or the HTC Thunderbolt. This, despite being over a year old now and very close to the launch of a newer model.

At AT&T stores, the iPhone was again in the lead, with 65% of the stores saying it was their top selling phone while 31% said that it tied with an Android phone.

What this means is that as a platform iOS may be trailing behind Android in terms of market share in the US but as a single model it outstrips almost every Android smartphone out there.

As for other platforms, they can be barely spotted in the diagram above. Only a handful of the stores that were asked, that too only those belonging to AT&T, said that a BlackBerry or a Windows Phone 7 device was the top-seller. This points to a lack of interest in both the platforms, with the former struggling to survive and the latter struggling to find its feet.
