Analyst predicts that the iPhone 3GS will be priced at free when the next iPhone debuts
Even though we’re all curious about the next version of the iPhone, there are some out there who are probably more attuned in learning about Apple’s plan of action to attack the other end of the spectrum – the low end market.

Well, RBC Capital Markets General Manager Mike Abramsky predicts that Apple will finally be on the market with a free smartphone when the next version of the iPhone arrives. Specifically, he claims that Apple will be selling the iPhone 3GS for free with an accompanying 2-year contract, which should hopefully prove to be combat the surge of low and mid-range Android handsets. Moreover, Abramsky believes that this logical move would double Apple’s market to approximately 150 million smartphones.

As we all know, AT&T still holds ownership to the iPhone 3Gs, which is evident by the advertising spots that continue to air on television. Although Verizon is now selling the iPhone 4 and appears to be on board with the next one, it’ll be interesting to see if Apple will grace them with a similar version of the iPhone 3GS.
